Six hits weren't enough for Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach as it lost a shootout, 13-8 in six innings, to Plainfield Twisters Orange on Wednesday at Country Lakes. Alyssa Schroeder boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach. She singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Plainfield Twisters Orange went up for good in the first, scoring four runs on an error, a groundout by Stephanie Ingrum, an RBI single by Brooke Knox, and an RBI triple by Liliana Santoyo. Plainfield Twisters Orange piled on three more runs in the top of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Jordan McCully singled, bringing home Aidee Calvillo and Lauren Derkowski to kick things off. Plainfield Twisters Orange increased its lead with four runs in the sixth. A bases loaded walk scored Stephanie for the inning's first run.

Lincoln Way Storm Beats Wheatland Spikes

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Lincoln Way Storm 10U scored one run on a groundout by Corey Maloney.

Lincoln Way Storm 10U pushed two runs across in each of the second, third and fourth. In the second, Lincoln Way Storm 10U scored on a groundout by Colleen Erdman, plating Alexandra Hofman.

Lincoln Way Storm 10U increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. A clutch wild pitch scored Bella Wilkerson to open the scoring in the frame.

A three-run fifth inning helped bring Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach within four. A walk by Ally Pavlich, a groundout by Megan Witzke, and a groundout by Olivia Hernandez fueled Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach's comeback. Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach's Chloe Smiley struck out to end the ballgame.

Chicago Fireworks outdone by Meredith O and Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach, 6-2

Meredith Olef went 2-2, helping Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach to a 6-2 victory over Chicago Fireworks on Saturday at McCollum Park, Downers Grove. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring one run on a groundout by Ally Pavlich. Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach added two more runs in the top of the third. A steal of home scored Megan Witzke for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Gracie Vlach's single, scoring Chloe Smiley.

Chicago Fireworks scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut its deficit to one. A two-run single by Linsay Creeth gave Chicago Fireworks life. The Chicago Fireworks threat came to an end when Andie Broniewicz finally got Nina Pilas to strike out.

Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach tacked on another three runs in the fourth. Meredith kicked things off with a single, plating Maia Clifford.

Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach shut the door early on Minooka Magic, capturing a 17-1 victory on Saturday.

Seventeen runs in the first three innings allowed Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Andie Broniewicz and an RBI single by Meredith Olef during the first inning fueled Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach's offense early. Morgan Bond put herself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach. She doubled in the third innings. Minooka Magic couldn't get anything going as long as Ally Pavlich was pitching. Minooka Magic managed just one hit off of P, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out five during her 2 2/3 innings of work.

Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach hammered Minooka Magic pitching as seven hitters had a field day, combining for 17 hits, 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach piled on 15 more runs in the top of the third. Andie singled, bringing home Morgan to start the inning. That was followed up by Alyssa Schroeder's single, plating Maia Clifford.

Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach beat Oak Park Windmills 4-3 in five innings on Sunday behind Gracie Vlach, who went 2-3.

She singled in the first and fifth innings. Andie Broniewicz got the win for Wheatland Spikes 10U Vlach. She allowed three runs over five innings. Andie struck out four, walked five and gave up three hits. Cassiday Metzger took the loss for Oak Park Windmills. She lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs. O ak Park Windmills jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the third. Brinkley Kita kicked things off for Oak Park Windmills with a double. More runs came home for Oak Park Windmills when K and M scored on a two-run triple by Madelyn Grant.
